Chapter 4 Section 1: The Imperialist Vision
Learning Outcome:
11.4 Students trace the rise of the United States to its role as a world power in the 20th century.
Students will participate in a jigsaw to highlight the important concepts of chapter 4 section 1. Students will create a small group presentation in the section assigned to them and present in class.
The Imperialist Vision:
Step 1. Teacher assigns group and group topic/section.
Group 1: Intro: Building Support for Imperialism
Group 2: A Desire for New Markets
Group 3: A Feeling of Superiority
Group 4: Expansion in the Pacific: Perry Opens Japan
Group 5: Expansion in the Pacific: Annexing Hawaii
Group 6: Relations with Latin America
Group 7: Building a Modern Navy
Step 2. Research your topic/section assigned to you. Use your text book, pages 295-299.
Step 3. Focus on Key ideas, concepts, examples and vocabulary, provide visuals that relate to the content you are covering.
Step 4. Create a presentation that outlines the important ideas with in your assigned sections.
